The Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Psychiatry has an outstanding opportunity for a nurse practitioner at the MGH Ketamine Clinic. As a key member of the clinical team, the attending will report to the Director Dr. Cusin and will provide the full scope of psychiatric services which fall under his/her field of training, including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, and coordination of care.

What You'll Work On
The Nurse Practitioner will be primarily accountable for:
Reviewing charts prior to the shift, attending rounds to discuss complex cases
Providing coverage on the service, making clinical decisions about dosing and follow ups, evaluating and treating patients, identifying safety concerns, discussing with the team members (Nurses, medical assistants, administrative personnel).
Documentation (monitoring forms, REMS as needed, procedure notes).
Coordinating care with other providers or research team as needed.
Medication reconciliation
Billing

Qualifications
Skills and Experience for a Nurse Practitioner
Minimum of 2 years advanced practice experience, required.
Previous nursing experience required.
Previous psychiatric and mental health experience preferred.

Education/Degree for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Bachelor's and master's in nursing required
Current federal and state-controlled substance certification/registration.

Job Summary
Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.

Essential Functions
-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.

Master's Degree Nursing required

Experience
2 years of licensed nurse practitioner experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
