Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION
To provide pediatrics ambulatory care outpatient visits.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluation, diagnosis, counseling and treatment with medications, procedures and other therapeutic modalities and include visits in patients seen for visits in Pediatrics.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Pediatrics NP provides care, makes referrals to other health care providers, and consults with the collaborating physician in the ambulatory care setting. Over the course of the week, the staff rotates through the hours of operation that include evening and Saturday hours.

Core privileges include but are not limited to:
Perform history and physical examinations
Perform, order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities such as studies, treatments and radiological studies
Request consultation and referral
Prescribe and order medications, immunizations, durable medical goods and devices in accordance with New York State and Federal laws concerning nurse practitioners (subject to section 6902(3)(b) of New York State Education Law)
Formulate a diagnosis, establish priorities to meet the patient's health and medical needs and provide ongoing medical management
Develop a plan of care with the patient, their parent/guardian and the team
Record progress notes
Educate and counsel of patients, caregivers, families and parents regarding diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Complete discharge summaries
Telehealth Evaluation - Privileges include the ability to assess, evaluate, diagnose, treat and monitor patients of all ages, as defined in the approved age specific competencies

Minimum Qualifications
1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and
2. Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the NYSED; and
3. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
