Position Overview
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice nurse that helps with all aspects of patient care, including consultations, diagnosis, follow-up care and treatments under the direct supervision of a radiation oncologist. The NP performs the task of educating patients about preventative care, procedures and prescribed treatments.
Essential Job Functions
Work in collaboration with a physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up.
Discuss cases with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
Perform patient triage and determine the urgency of physician's evaluation.
Provide information to patients and families related to symptom management and psychosocial response to the diagnosis of cancer and related treatment.
Maintain accurate and legible electronic medical records, while documenting all medical evaluations, diagnosis, procedures, treatment, prognosis, side effects, referrals, education and consultations
Interpret and evaluate findings of studies and tests; evaluate the quality of care provided and recommend changes for improvement.
Requirements
Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Florida Board of Nursing.
Active and unrestricted Florida license.
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Minimum of 2 years' nursing experience in a clinical setting.
