JOB SUMMARY:
A Nurse Practitioner, or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, is responsible for handling patient appointments and performing routine examinations to ensure patient health. Their duties include speaking with their patients about healthy lifestyle choices for their age, completing diagnostic tests to help diagnose and treat patients for injuries or illnesses and coordinating with other healthcare professionals to maintain updated medical records.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Nurse Practitioner duties will be conducted under the certification of specialty. The Nurse Practitioner undertake a variety of responsibilities in their efforts to help patients. A Nurse Practitioner performs many duties, to include, but not limited to:
Providing primary care to patients
Performing initial examinations, including physical exams and patient observations
Setting up and monitoring medical equipment
Ordering and administering diagnostic tests
Communicating test results to patients and their families
Recording patient medical histories
Operating and maintaining medical equipment
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides oversight of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants. May have oversight of Residents and interns.
AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
RISK MANAGEMENT/QUALITY MANAGEMENT/SAFETY: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
? Education- MSN required
? Work Experience- Area if assigned specialty
? Training- Clinic experience in area of Specialty
? License/Certification- Board Certified in area assigned
ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
