Job Description: The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) is an expert clinical practitioner who integrates experience, skills and knowledge from nursing theory in the provision and management of direct client/patient/resident care, assessment of needs, clinical problem solving and client/patient/resident education. Under the direction of Manager and Medical Director of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) will contribute to the development of knowledge and the improvement of practice for an identified client population. This will be accomplished through the demonstration of leadership, the implementation and application of best practices, the provision of clinical consultation/services and the development of healthy interdependent partnerships with essential stakeholders. The NNP will undertake and participate in research for an identified population in coordination with NCAs and Neonatologists. Comprehensive care is provided utilizing a systems approach and consistent collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The NNP demonstrates rapid decision making for efficient matching of demands, needs and resources, and resolving clinical and professional issues.
Human Resources Exemption: No
Education: Masters degree in nursing with clinical specialization in Neonatal Intensive Care.
Experience: Requires five (5) years recent full time experience in clinical area. Demonstrated expertise in the practice area. Experience in research, quality monitoring and evaluation.
Licenses: Current CRNS registration as NNP required.
Knowledge and Abilities: Proven highly developed clinical assessment skills. Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal/consultative relationships and communication patterns. Demonstrated supervisory skills and application of judgment. Demonstrated ability to implement change and evaluate program practice/direction. Expertise in development, design and delivery of specialty educational programs.
