NURSE PRACTITIONER-ENDOCRINOLOGY

Position Summary: Performs comprehensive clinical assessments and treatments to be used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Serves as a resource for other members of the patient care team.

Essential Functions: CLIN PRACTICE

• Provides direct and indirect patient care optimizing patient safety. Works proactively and in collaboration with other team member
• Evaluates patients, obtains complete health history from patient or family. Performs comprehensive appraisal including physical examinations and developmental/situational evaluation. Provides medical advice and assistance and crisis intervention in person by telephone when required. Performs comprehensive diabetes assessment and treatment
• Establishes medical diagnosis for common short term or chronic stable health problems. Prescribes drugs in collaboration with a licensed physician.
• Orders laboratory tests, x-ray studies or other diagnostic tests as appropriate.
• Establishes therapeutic measures as related to specific illnesses or anticipatory guidance. Refers patient to appropriate licensed physicians or other health care providers.
• Coordinates care with specialty clinics, physicians, social agencies, governmental agencies, etc. on behalf of the patient. Maintains and reviews patient records. May track and report patient data to monitor clinical outcomes

Requirements:

• MSN - graduate of Nurse Practitioner Program Two years as RN; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; BSN's from CCNE accredited schools
• BLS CPR CARD
• 3-5 years of experience preferred
• Skill and experience to care for adult patients throughout the hospital complex and the full scope of the tertiary care hospital
• Active diabetes management with the primary team
• Engagement in diabetes related initiatives and leadership as needed/requested
