Mission or Goal of Unit
The mission of the Obstetrics and Gynecologydepartment is to provide the highest quality clinical care in both general andspecialty Obstetrics and Gynecology to central Virginia. In addition to theclinical mission, the department has the allied goals of providing undergraduateand graduate medical education in the field and advancing the field throughbasic and clinical research.

Chief Purpose of this position
TheDepartment of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking qualified candidates toprovide specialty care in General Obstetrics and Gynecology at VCU Health. Thisposition is designed to provide care primarily in general Obstetrics andGynecology, including surgery, in- and outpatient consultation and performanceof therapeutic procedures. This position will include participation in studentand resident education as well as in the department's clinical researchactivities.
Position Responsibilities
Teaching
The faculty member will have teachingresponsibilities to include actively participating in the department'seducational activities, with particular attention to educating students andresidents in their core educational objectives in general obstetrics andgynecology.
Research
The person filling this position is encouraged to initiate clinicalresearch projects. They are expected to participate in and facilitate other departmentresearch and contribute to scholarly publications/presentations.
Service
The faculty member will serve ondepartmental, health system, and university committees as necessary, as well asin a professional capacity in their field. The faculty member will be assignedto committees at the discretion of the division director and department chair.
Clinical
Full participationin the clinical activities of the general obstetrics and gynecology division isexpected. Clinical activities are to be determined by the general obstetricsand gynecology division head and are expected to include a combination ofclinic, inpatient care, surgery, and participation in nighttime call duties as appropriate.
Other
The faculty memberwill participate in department and institutional administrative activities asassigned by the division head and department chair.

Required Qualifications
- Completion of ACGME accredited OB/GYN residency
- Eligible for a Virginia medical license
- Potential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residency
- Demonstrated talent and experience in teaching and commitment to research, and patient care
- BC/BE by the American Board of OB/GYN
