Job Description
Job Title: Occupational Therapist II
Job Specialty: Home Health
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Full-time; Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of eighteen months experience as an Occupational Therapist in an acute healthcare environment
License: Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California
Certifications:
- Completes mandatory stroke-specific education requirements for certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Must-Have:
- Home health experience is highly preferred
- Experience with a range of diagnoses including general medicine, orthopedics, neurology, and cardiopulmonary
Job Description:
- Assess individual patients' occupational therapy needs and establish and implement occupation-based treatment programs and goals
- Perform evaluation procedures to determine patients' performance capacities and deficits such as functional, cognitive, visual, and perceptual abilities
- Analyze evaluation test results to develop a plan of care involving appropriate interventions, goals, expected intensity, duration of therapy, and recommendations for discharge
- Provide education to patients and caregivers regarding the purpose of activities, use of equipment, home exercise, and activities
- Perform regular re-examinations, measure outcomes, and seek feedback from patients, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary medical team
- Develop and modify treatment programs to meet the changing needs of patients
- Oversee the clinical work of Occupational Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides
- Manage multiple patients concurrently
- Provide services and documentation in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with professional and regulatory standards
- Participate in outside continuing education and incorporate acquired information into practice
- Assist with educating and orienting new staff, act as a fieldwork educator for students and interns, and participate as an instructor in established classes or programs
- Engage in educational events within the clinic and community
- Attend clinical education coursework that meets the guidelines of the California Board of Occupational Therapy and provide in-services to staff
- Travel to patients' homes for home evaluations when required
