Description:

The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients within the scope of services offered by the department. Assists director with educational program and new program development, marketing and promotion. Performs other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.

Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a major in occupational therapy.
  • State licensure with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.

Responsibilities:
  • Completes case history and notes pertinent to prior medical history as reported by patient and caregiver..
  • Demonstrates flexibility in assessment procedure; adjusts evaluation session according to patient's needs and abilities.
  • Accurately assesses: ROM, strength, sensation, tissue tension, spasm and pain, functional and ADL deficits. Accurately assesses neuromotor, neuro behavioral, sensory oral motor, developmental and orthopedic status; assesses visual, perceptual and cognitive abilities.
  • Counsels patients and/or families regarding assessment results and provides relevant education materials.
  • Appropriately carries out treatment plan with ongoing assessment and modifications when necessary, using measurable goals and objectives which are age and/or diagnosis specific.
  • Recommends appropriate home programs and documents patient education in progress notes.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.

Schedule:

Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Fridays, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Pay Range:

Hourly/Non-Exempt

$33.00 - $49.00; based on work experience
