Reports To:
Director of Student Personnel Services/Building Principal
Job Goal(s):
To promote each student's optimum physical developmental skills, perceptual skills, and self-help abilities through evaluation and analysis of the student's individual needs.
Qualifications:
New Jersey School Certificate: School Occupational Therapist
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy
Such additional qualifications as the board may deem appropriate
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Evaluates difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing, interview and other diagnostic procedures.
2. Establishes immediate and long-term student and program goals.
3. Develops and implements a program of purposeful activities necessary for the development of each child.
4. Administers individual and group therapy as prescribed and necessary.
5. Cooperates with staff members in the implementation of a total program for each individual student in need of services.
6. Directs and supervises the service provided by the certified occupational therapy assistant.
7. Adapts equipment and materials to meet the specific needs of each student.
8. Maintains case records on all referred students.
9. Prepares and maintains a listing of equipment need for the administration of therapeutic services.
10. Attends all necessary Child Study Team meetings.
11. Attends workshops, seminars, symposiums, and lectures designated to enrich and enhance knowledge in the field.
12. Assumes other appropriate professional activities as delegated by the Supervisor of Student Personnel Services and/or the building principal.
Salary:
Placement on the Education Association of Paramus (EAP) Salary Guide, in accordance with experience and related qualifications.
