Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Job Specialty: General Occupational Therapy

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Days - 7:30 AM to 4 PM, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, or 8:30 AM to 5 PM (Flexibility with start times; also open to 10-hour shifts, 7:30 AM to 6 PM)

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience: Previous work experience providing direct patient care in outpatient, inpatient, or inpatient rehab unit preferred. Prior use of electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.

License: Applicable state license for Occupational Therapy

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association required

Must-Have: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required; Master's Degree preferred

Job Description:

- Evaluate patients presenting or referred to occupational therapy, completing initial evaluations within department protocol time standards.
- Apply appropriate diagnostic and prognostic testing for musculoskeletal, neurological, and neuromuscular conditions.
- Conduct standardized testing to determine the level of disability and track outcomes over the patient care experience.
- Develop treatment plans including specific goals and activities, reassessing and modifying plans as necessary based on patient's current level of function.
- Utilize a variety of activities to foster maximum independence in activities of daily living.
- Apply technical knowledge in rehabilitative activities tailored to patient's needs.
- Perform best practice and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to meet unique rehabilitation needs.
- Establish treatment plans with measurable and attainable goals in collaboration with patients, families, and health care team members.
- Evaluate patients' learning styles and teach skills and techniques for participation in occupational therapy.
- Demonstrate flexibility by floating to other areas and being available to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Consult with rehabilitation team members to select appropriate activities or programs for individual patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, physicians, and other stakeholders while respecting confidentiality.
- Establish effective time management and prioritize workload to meet productivity requirements.
- Document patient care activities, including evaluations, progress notes, and treatment records, per standards of practice and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in department and hospital quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and outcomes.
- Assist in training occupational therapy and certified occupational therapist assistant students and other personnel.
- Act as a resource for new staff members by sharing information and providing education.
- Adhere to professional code of ethics and all accreditation and regulatory requirements.
