Job Title: ODA/Certification Specialist

1. Summary of Position: (Brief description of overall responsibilities and function)

Responsibility for ensuring that the ODA processes, procedures, and trainings comply with the FAA Order 8100.15 and 14 CFR 21.183. Position requires versatility to include high level understanding of aircraft design, analysis, testing, system safety, manufacturing inspection, FAA regulations and project management.

Monitor Designated Engineering Representatives (DER), Designated Airworthiness (DAR) or ODA Unit Members (UM) and monitor compliance in all areas.

Maintain the ODA/Certification compliance records.

2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Specifically describe the essential duties and responsibilities with estimated percentage of time that is spent on each).

1.

Assist in developing and maintaining ODA manual, UM charts, training material, presentations, and meeting minutes.

2.

Ensure that Designated Engineering Representatives (DER), Designated Airworthiness (DAR) or ODA Unit Members (UM) Authorization and Training stay current. Support their access to the required AWPC platforms. Assist them with the travel arrangements.

3.

Review all the DER/Engineering UM compliance statements and DAR/DMIR/Inspection UM conformity inspection packages for accuracy and compliance to the required regulations.

4.

Maintain the ODA STC and Amended STC records in accordance with the ODA Procedures Manual.

5.

Maintain the ODA/Certification compliance records, UMs Application Package, Training and Authorization Records.

6.

Support the internal and external audits.

7.

Provide updates to the certification project list, STC operators list, project cost estimates and corrective actions.

8.

Assist in developing and maintain the AWPC Partnership for Safety Plan.

9.

Stay up to date with the latest developments in FAA regulations and industry standards related to ODA authorization.

  • Qualifications for Position:


  • A. Education

    BS degree in Engineering or related. MS degree is preferred.

    B. Experience

    1.

    Minimum 15 years experience in aircraft engineering, certification, manufacturing engineering projects in technical and project engineering capacity, of which at least 5 years in certification.

    2.

    Knowledge of all phases of aircraft design, testing, system safety, approval, FAA certification, manufacturing, inspection, service and continued operational safety.

    C. Competencies & Attributes

    1.

    Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 21, 23, 25, 27, 29 and 183 regulation and associated policies.

    2.

    Understanding of the FAA certification processes.

    3.

    Project engineering including planning, tracking, and managing projects.

    4.

    Knowledge of the ODA requirements and the FAA Order 8100.15.

    5.

    Attention to details and organizational skill.

    6.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office package.

    D. Licensure/Certification

    Project Management certification is desired.
