HOW YOU WILL THRIVE:

As the Admissions Officer (Boarding), you will build relationships with international families, agencies and alumni to enhance the School's presence as a leader in Canadian independent schools. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the successful recruitment of diverse, mission-appropriate boarding students.
HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED:
  • Work collaboratively to develop and implement recruitment and retention strategy for boarding student, ensuring alignment with the school's mission, pillars and purpose as well as diversity and inclusion goals
  • Manage relationships with third-party agents by maintaining updated data base and representing Appleby at recruitment fairs and presentations
  • Conduct annual market assessments, including competitive analysis, trends, opportunities, threats, and market performance forecasts
  • Meet annual boarding enrolment targets by identifying, recruiting, interviewing, and recommending mission-aligned prospective students, while ensuring all inquiries and application data are accurately tracked in the admissions system
  • Guide and support new students and parents through all phases of the admissions process
  • Ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new boarding students and their families by collaborating with internal stakeholders to coordinate the welcome program during orientation week
  • Partner with School leaders to monitor and address retention-related matters and maintain clear, proactive communication with families
  • Collaborate with Alumni Relations and the Advancement team to plan and host international alumni receptions that foster long-term community connections
  • Prepare and distribute detailed profiles of all incoming boarding students to key internal departments
  • Serve as the primary liaison for Student Boarding House Ambassadors, supporting their engagement efforts within the boarding community
  • Contribute to the school's social media presence, particularly in support of admissions content and initiatives
  • Represent the Admissions team at school-wide and community events, both locally and internationally
  • Travel internationally and domestically on average 60 days per year to support the boarding programme

WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Post-secondary education
  • Proven experience within the same or similar field
  • Experience working with High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) and/or families is an asset
  • Experience in a boarding school environment is an asset
  • Strong understanding of international markets and a natural ability to connect with families from diverse backgrounds with relationship building skills
  • Flexibility to travel both internationally and domestically
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Outlook; knowledge of Blackbaud Enrolment Management and Power BI is an asset
  • Fluency in another language such as Mandarin, Spanish, or Arabic is an asset
