Job Title: OMC Specialist
FLSA Status: ExemptDivision: OMCEEOC Classification: OperativesReports To: Assistant Manager OMC/Kaizen SUMMARY:
The main objective of this engineering position is to contribute to the overall profitability of the organization through OMC activities and downtime reduction utilizing tools and methods of the Toyota Production System. These activities can be, but are not limited to, activities such as equipment improvements to increase productivity, labor reduction activities, process and material flow improvements, and energy consumption reduction. This person will be expected to support facility expansion projects and preparations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Understand and maintain manpower and man hour requirements for Direct and Semi-Direct laborDevelop and train Aisin Illinois team members on T.P.S. tools and methods Coordinate T.P.S. activity for production and related processes Understand and utilize "Shikumi of Production" Coordinate and conduct T.P.S. & Kaizen events Understand and develop capacity analysis Understanding, development, and analysis of "Yardsticks" Identify areas for productivity, quality, and safety improvement & implement Participate in pre-production trials and support readiness activity Support supplier development activities as required Work with customer development groups Coordinate OMC team member schedules and planning Mentor for OMC team members in T.P.S. tools and processes SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:May be asked to supervise temporary and or hourly team members on occasion.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge and application of Toyota Production Systems and lean manufacturing toolsComfortable with use of Microsoft Excel and Word, Visio, and Project Strong organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong mathematical and data analysis skills Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with team members, staff, & customers Ability to work in team environment and work well with other team members QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's or Associates degree in a technical/business related field (industrical engineering, engineering or technology)
Or a minimum of 3 years utilizing Toyota Production Systems and/or lean manufacturing tools
1-5 years experience in automotive industry ORGANIZATIONAL (AND OUTSIDE) RELATIONSHIPS:All other AMI Departments.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work generally performed in an office and manufacturing environment requires strict adherence to safety policies and procedures.
Exposed to factory areas which may have elements of noise, dust, odors, fumes, or oils. The performance of this position will require personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and cut resistant sleeves where required.
