The Bus Operations Training Onboarding Coordinator will support the Bus Operations Training section by coordinating the onboarding activities for new bus operators (both part-time and full-time) and for new Transit Supervisors-in-Training (TSITs). The Onboarding Coordinator will also maintain records and systems that support these training programs.

Job Duties
Job Duties:

Applying principles is a daily responsibility and a foundational expectation for all King County employees. In this role, you will apply equity and social justice principles that exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices to all aspects of the work. As an Onboarding Coordinator you will:

Operator Training program
  • Prepare, coordinate, and work with classroom instructors to ensure that documentation/informational needs are met for the Transit Operator training program.
  • Coordinate with other divisions and work groups to ensure that all onboarding procedures for new Operators are met, including Transit Employee Services, Central and Transit Payroll, Benefits, Base Operations, Safety, Security and Quality Assurance, King County ID office, ATU Local 587, and others as needed.
  • Set up the class rosters in SharePoint (including names, ID numbers, seniority, driver's license number and expiration, birthdate, medical certificates and expiration, rehire information).
  • Create sign in sheets for classes.
  • Notify base personnel which bases students will be assigned.
  • Assign and reserve classrooms for the various classes, as well as for external requests for classroom space.
  • Maintain class and student information and provide information on program performance.
  • Create graduation certificates, assign and track parking permits, and maintain an adequate number of keys for distribution to graduates and others.
  • Responsible for timely submission of necessary Commercial Driver's License (CDL) information to state and federal databases. Assist with Instructor professional license renewal process.
  • Schedule speakers for training classes.
  • Ensure that all training materials are ready and available for training classes.
  • Track training supplies and ensure adequate supplies are on hand. Request more supplies as needed.
  • Coordinate interview schedule for Operator recruitments.
  • Assist Timekeeper with payroll for Operator Trainees.
  • Ensure that needs are met for seven training campuses and for the Instructional Design group, including Training program manuals, supplies, and documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisor-in-Training (SIT) Program
  • Create and maintain digital and physical SIT student files and records.
  • Acquire necessary equipment for SIT Orientation.
  • Assist in the selection of SIT Orientation Instructors.
  • Process ID card access forms for incoming SIT students.
  • Create Galls uniform accounts for SITs and process uniform vouchers
  • Schedule SIT Orientation speakers.
  • Secure classroom space for SIT Orientation.
  • Work with KCIT to troubleshoot issues with computer account updates.
  • Assist with sending out official offer letters to prospective SIT students.

Minimum Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
  • Experience utilizing a computer and other tools to gather, manipulate, and use data to determine accurate solutions and plans
  • Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail and complete work with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills with the demonstrated ability to provide easily understandable information and direction
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds with diverging opinions and viewpoints
  • Demonstrated organizational skills for managing and prioritizing a diverse workload with multiple customers
  • Experience handling multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Skill in solving problems, negotiating differences, and resolving conflicts among multiple stakeholders
  • Experience working in an environment that may include ambiguity
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Outlook, Word, SharePoint, and Excel
  • Possess a valid Washington state driver's license (or ability to obtain Washington state driver's license upon hire) or alternate ability to travel to off-site locations

  • Knowledge of Metro Transit Bus Operations
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency with MS office suite, particularly Outlook, Word, SharePoint, and Excel

  • Experience managing and coordinating projects and/or processes
  • Knowledge of project management principles

Work Schedule and Location:
This Project/Program Manager II position is an overtime-eligible position that is subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., although work may need to be performed outside of business hours when required. This position is onsite at Metro Training 3401 S Norfolk Street.
