Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Specialty: Oncology, Infusion RN
Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day shift - 10-hour shifts, Monday to Thursday, and one Friday per month
Guaranteed Hours: Not specified
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of medical/surgical nursing with emphasis on IV insertions and phlebotomy skills. Previous infusion and oncology infusion experience required.
License: Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Certifications:
- ONS Chemo/Bio Certification required
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy certification preferred
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- PALS preferred
Must-Have:
- Proficiency in IV insertions for adults and management of PICC line and Port-a-Cath
- Basic computer knowledge
- Strong customer service skills
- Experience with Cerner EHR preferred (but not required)
Job Description:
- Work under the supervision of the Infusion Nurse Manager
- Management of IV insertion and PICC line/Port-A-Cath for patients from age 18 through end-of-life
- Proficient in the administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, antibiotics, phlebotomy, and blood products
- Manage side effects related to treatment using an interdisciplinary approach
- Perform patient assessments specific to disease, treatments being administered, and associated side effects
- Demonstrate multitasking abilities and proficiency in interdisciplinary communication
- Responsible for outpatient infusion services, including chemotherapy
- Conduct patient education on injections and all aspects of IV infusion therapy for adult disease processes
- Communication with ordering physicians and staff
- Perform nursing history and physical assessments
This role does not require holiday coverage.
