The Department of Cell Systems and Anatomy in the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio invites applications for an open-rank faculty position in cancer research. We seek an investigator with a strong track record of impactful research discoveries to join a team of multidisciplinary investigators and clinicians committed to improving outcomes for cancer patients, particularly patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which disproportionately affects our region and is a major multi-disciplinary focus for our institution. The liver cancer incidence in South Texas is 64% higher than that in the rest of the United States. Candidates must have a PhD, MD or equivalent degree with a minimum of three years of productive postdoctoral training and outstanding cancer research experience in the areas of metabolism, inflammation, and/or immunology. Candidates with these areas of expertise and a research program focusing on HCC are particularly encouraged to apply.
Both the department and the NCI Designated Mays Cancer Center have dynamic research programs that offer opportunities for multidisciplinary collaborative investigation. The UT Health San Antonio is a Tier One research institution and home to multiple NIH-funded center awards including Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science, Sam and Ann Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, and Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer's & Neurodegenerative Diseases.
