Field Engineering is seeking to recruit an Operating Supervisor to join it's management team. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Supervise the activities of Surveyors, Planners and Splicers in Field Engineering group, which is responsible to obtain data for Operations Engineering, Energy Services, Construction Management, Gas, Steam, Control Center
- Supervise crews to pre-inspect underground structures to verify existing cable arrangements and the applicability of proposed cable and splicing plans and prepare required manhole sketches.
- Supervise surveyor crews to obtain necessary topographical data in connection with the construction of facilities including M-scope locating, establishment of line and grades, and sewer connection requirements.
- Ensure that all work activities are performed in a safe, efficient and reliable manner and in accordance with established policies, engineering plans and specifications and environmental laws and regulations
- Proficient with interpreting computerized reports and their application of work-related activities and responsibilities
- Monitors work performance of subordinates and regularly counsels poor performers to acceptable level
- Provides instruction and guidance in the development of service determinations and construction layouts.
- Conduct job briefings, job sites safety exchange (JSSEs), AVAIL audits and vehicle inspections
- Promote a culture of inclusion and engagement, growth and resource flexibility that fosters professionalism, honesty, concern, courtesy, excellence, and teamwork
- Ensure implementation of Company safety, health, and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed
- Recognize and implement corrective actions in cases of work performance
- Must have knowledge of the electric distribution, Electrical Operations and Construction, primary and secondary systems
- Must be available for storm and emergency response.
- Must respond to system emergencies
- Must work off shifts if required
- Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
- Must enter underground structures
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of relevant work experience or
- Associate's Degree and 5 years of relevant work experience or
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years or relevant work experience
- Experience in the assessment of underground structures Preferred
- Experience in supervision of contract and union personnel and knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement Preferred
- Strong Computer Skills (CAD, MicroStation, Adpet) Preferred
- Understanding of the Work Management System and Logica software Preferred
- Knowledge of Electric Operations, which includes equipment, cable and splicing, associated with underground and/or overhead installation and associated construction standards Preferred
- Experience with distribution electrical equipment Preferred
- Experience in interpret Engineering layouts and drawing Preferred
- Effective leadership skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
- Demonstrated analytical skills
- Possesses strong technical aptitude
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to interpret basic information on drawings.
- Ability to build strong customer relationships
- Ability to inspire and develop staff
- Driver's License Required
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Walking, climbing, driving and site visits are required.
