The Organization
North Los Angeles County Regional Center "NLACRC" is a private, non-profit agency that is contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California and has proudly served the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974. We serve individuals across the lifespan from infants and toddlers, school age children, transition-age youth, to adults and aging adults.

Scope
Responsible for payroll and operations of accounting.
Supervision
Receives supervision from Controller or Director of Finance and supervises the payroll and operations accounting team.
The Position and Job Summary
Employment Standards
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, a minimum of 4 years of payroll experience, a minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience and a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience is required.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices, good organizational skills, demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively as a part of an interdisciplinary team, excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency with MS Word and MS Outlook, and advanced MS Excel skills
Essential Requirements
Must be comfortable supporting staff in the field or working remotely and being available to staff. Frequent telephone, virtual, and out-of-office meetings required. Valid California Driver's License and reliable and transportation, or acceptable substitute, required.

The Position and Job Summary
- Leads and motivates their team to provide excellent support to coworkers, vendors, and individuals we serve. You must lead by example and foster a collaborative environment.
- Select, trains, supervises, evaluates, and motivates staff.
- Supervises payroll team. Monitors and evaluates payroll processing procedures. Ensures timely and accurate processing of payroll. Implement quality assurance measures.
- Supervises operations accounting team.
- Oversees bank reconciliations and operations payables. Ensure accurate and timely payments.
- Manages and maintains accountability for fixed assets.
- Develops and conducts various trainings as needed.
- Assists with monthly and annual closing process.
- Assists with financial reporting, cash and expenditure projections and various reporting requirements.
- Guide the completion of staff assignments by coaching and training all staff to perform multiple tasks in the event of absences.
- Maintains and reviews accounting procedures, make improvements when necessary and play a key role in implementing new systems and tools to increase efficiency. Assist in developing policies and procedures and in making recommendations for the department. Collaborate with the accounting management team to support the needs of the organization.
- Participates on the management team to recommend and determine department needs and practices. Assumes leadership role on special projects as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
