Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Supply Chain and Operations, the Operations Director directs, manages and optimizes the manufacturing and maintenance operations of Select Food Products Limited. The role is responsible for day-to-day team leadership, coaching and establishing systems and processes for reliable manufacturing that delivers on the organization's productivity, service, quality, safety, cost and engagement targets.

The role is responsible for day-to-day team leadership, coaching and establishing systems and processes for reliable manufacturing that delivers on the organization's productivity, service, quality, safety, cost and engagement targets.
Responsibilities
- Execute the current operations plan and budget while being able to manage the budget, resources and systems required to achieve our financial goals
- Identify process gaps and implement effective, sustainable improvements to increase efficiency
- Work with production scheduling to create a resource plan that achieves customer needs while managing to our labour budget
- Troubleshoot and optimize production process, i.e., process, resources and machine reliability
- Review breakdown metrics, i.e., equipment, process, plant history
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing Principles to get to root causes of issues and put in place sustainable solutions
- Suggest production line automation, and work with Operational and Engineering Leadership to implement
- Participate in and support machine commissioning plans and taking on responsibility for the reliable performance of the machine
- Inspire and motivate large Operations team to high performance leveraging organization performance indicators and employee engagement principles
- Provide feedback to direct reports on performance and support through their learning journeys
- Assess talent capabilities and determine appropriate strategies to maximize team effectiveness
- Create clarity in functional objectives and align behaviours to achieve high performance
- Coach direct reports to create an environment of both learning and improvement with the goal to meet or exceed business results
- Facilitate and support team communication of strategy, ELT decisions and business performance
Qualifications
- 8 - 10 years' experience in food manufacturing with practical experience in lean manufacturing and a proven track record of sustainable improvements
- University Degree, Business Administration or Engineering Preferred
- Knowledge and hands on experience with implementing Manufacturing best practices
- 5 years' experience leading teams and fostering a "team" approach to business results
- Comfortable with ERP system and Microsoft Office Platforms
- Ability to work in and lead cross functional teams
- Ability to communicate and influence
- Strong leadership and ability to positive influence across large teams
- Ability to analyze and critically think
- Ability to look, listen and learn quickly and make sound decisions with team buy-in
