Job Description Summary
The Senior Engineering Manager - Operations for the Gas Power Configuration Management & Product Definition (CMPD) engineering organization is critical part of the leadership team responsible for the generation and ownership of product definition, executing configuration management processes across new units and services, setting design standards, and managing Technical Compliance for the Gas Power business. This role acts as the Chief of Staff for the 600+ global Configuration Management & Product Definition organization and requires direct people leadership of a team that includes Senior Operations professionals, the CMPD Quality Leader and the CMPD Lean Leader. This is a highly autonomous role that will provide on-going visibility across the Gas Power Engineering Leadership Team.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Role model the GE Vernova Way: drive innovation, serve our customers, lean is how we work, win as one team, and drive accountability.
  • Own the CMPD Operations team performance evaluations, as well as salary planning/adjustments and promotions. Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback and coaching. Ensure employees receive the training, support and guidance needed to continuously increase their responsibilities, technical contributions and growth
  • In partnership with the CMPD General Manager and staff, establish the long-term strategy, yearly priorities, and monthly/weekly/daily management routines and business intelligence dashboards for CMPD to deliver on end customer and internal business objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost in that order.
  • Align the CMPD global demand-capacity strategy with inputs from Gas Power Engineering operations to help functional leaders prioritize and deploy resources across the organization effectively and drive productivity to deliver on headcount targets and overall financial performance; that includes labor, local & global contractor, shop/work/labor & general operating costs.
  • Represent CMPD engineering team in operations council meetings with Gas Power Engineering Operations team to leverage synergy and flow down high-level business operating plan actions to functional level teams
  • Drive consistent global operations strategy, standard work process rigor, and best practice sharing across global teams to operate as ONE engineering team
  • Lead the CMPD communications plan supporting bi-weekly Newsletter, Quarterly all-hands, and other innovative methods
  • Together with the CMPD Lean Leader, coordinate the CMPD Monthly Operating Review and coach the team through Key Performance Indicator (KPI) & action plan development as well as problem solving.
  • Own the CMPD Breakthrough priorities, coordinate with the CMPD staff to establish the teams and lead a regular cadence with the CMPD staff to update on progress and help the teams to remove roadblocks.
  • Drive Estimate at Completion (EAC) reduction efforts through data analysis and documented labor productivity
  • Willingness to research/learn/observe internal (and sometimes external) high-level practices in Lean and Quality in order to provide guidance and leadership to direct reports; in addition to maintaining alignment with Gas Power/Vernova Lean/Quality


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 8 years of relevant industry/domain experience
  • Demonstrates the GE Vernova Way: Innovation, Customers, Lean, One Team, Accountable
  • Strong experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI; Must be willing to learn Tableau to maintain/enhance CMPD's daily management dashboards.
  • Curious learner (willing to navigate globally, be resourceful); challenge the status quo (ask why, act as a fresh set of eyes), and trusted partner of the General Manager (comfortable providing feedback, suggesting operational/process efficiencies/improvements)


Desired Characteristics
  • Proven experience implementing, using and coaching foundational lean skills/tools: Standard Work, Daily Management, Leader Standard Work, Problem Solving, KPI Development, Waste Identification
  • Prior People Leader Experience
  • Finance FP&A (financial planning & analysis) knowledge
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities including working with large organizations and various levels of leadership, up to and including Senior Executive and Vice President leaders. Able to present key data effectively and clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence cross functional/business/location and drive change.
  • Flexibility in handling a diverse and challenging workload
  • Highly motivated and self-directing/self-starter
  • Substantial demonstrated capability in continuous improvement activities
  • Knowledge of the Gas Power products, services, processes, and organizational structure
  • Experience in driving large initiatives in a multifunctional environment
  • Anticipates internal & external customer needs and ensures that they are met
  • Measures processes and performance through the customer's eyes
  • Ability to energize, develop and build rapport at all levels within an organization
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and leadership skills and is accessible and approachable

The base pay range for this position is $152,400 - $254,000 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

This position is also eligible for a variable incentive bonus of 15%.

This posting is expected to remain open until at least 3/21/2025.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
