Description:

Hydraulics International, Inc (HII) seeks an Operations Manager, Machine Shop in a manufacturing setting responsible for overseeing and managing the machine shop. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that all machine shop operations and projects are completed accurately and on schedule, as well as ensuring that the machine shop's CNC equipment is operating at optimal levels.

Key Performance Deliverables:
  • This role provides leadership to develop and manage an effective machine shop team, driving improvements to our processes.
  • Oversees and directs the production of machined parts including but not limited to the programming, set-up, and operation of computer numerical control (CNC) machines, program mills, and lathes, maintaining quality and safety.
  • Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Works collaboratively with Engineering, Quality, Fabrication, Assembly, Maintenance, and Engineering and Planning to ensure department and company objectives are achieved.
  • Sets up, programs, and troubleshoots CNC lathes and Mills that have numerical controls
  • Reduces setup time and production time through process improvements: Ability to institute process and procedural improvements in a machine shop environment is critical.
  • Leads and Controls tool management projects
  • Manages a Machine Shop workforce of 100+ employees across three shifts, including the oversight of all CNC programming.
  • Selects the best qualified candidates for Machine Shop in coordination with Human Resources
  • Develops and implements CNC programming policies and safety and procedures
  • Effectively mentors' employees at all levels. Including training and on-boarding new employees, Periodic review of training gaps. Cross training employees.
  • Provides daily communication throughout all levels of the organization to successfully achieve production goals.
  • Monitors and maintains CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Stays up to date on the latest CNC programming techniques and technologies
  • Create and maintain CNC programming documentation
  • Manages budgets and resources for the machine shop.
  • Reviews department KPIs on a regular basis and communicates the results throughout the organization.
  • Ensures employees are trained and perform work safely; conducts inspections and sets safety goals.
  • Orders materials and organizes the shop floor.


Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or 7 to 10 years related experience with a High School Diploma and Technical or Trade school classes in a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in a machine shop, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proficiency in CNC programming software, such as Mastercam or SolidWorks
  • Proficient in machining technologies and fabrication processes
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a high number of set-ups and short run jobs
  • Able to understand complex mechanical drawings and tolerances
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software

Salary:

$100k-$165k
