The Student Union, Inc. is 501(c)(3) nonprofit auxiliary that maintains three major facilities at San Jos State University in downtown San Jos, California. These facilities include the Diaz Compean Student Union Building, the Provident Credit Union Event Center, and the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center. The Student Union, Inc. functions as part of the Student Affairs Division on campus, and is governed by a Board of Directors made up of a student majority, faculty, and administrators.

Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the Student Union Operations Manager is responsible for the custodial operation and staffing needs of the Student Union building; overall management and supervision of operations staff including the Night Supervisor, Student Building Supervisors and Student Building Attendants; maintains and orders inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and assists in the custodial services necessary for all interior and exterior building spaces.

Job Summary

Duties and Responsibilities
- Directs and oversees the normal custodial services and ensures cleanliness of meeting rooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, tenant spaces, and outside areas of the Student Union building on a daily basis.
- Hires, trains and supervises the Night Supervisor of Student Union.
- Hires, trains and supervises the day and night full-time operations staff, and a large staff of student building assistants.
- Identifies and reports building repair needs to the Maintenance Department; removes broken furniture for repair.
- Oversees seasonal cleaning and shampooing of lounge and office furniture, ballroom, meeting room, and all other furniture throughout the building.
- Directs and oversees maintenance and cleaning of engineered hardwood, terrazzo, and carpeted flooring, glass, steel, and painted wall surfaces throughout the building.
- When necessary performs all duties described above.
- Directs building emergencies and evacuations as necessary
- Reviews the daily work of, and is the primary contact for outside custodial services provider, and other outside cleaning service providers as necessary.
- Inventories furniture and equipment annually.
- Inventories and orders cleaning supplies; maintains supplies at an appropriate level, and oversees the budget of the building operations department.
- Works with and around hazardous materials, and trains staff on use of hazardous materials.
- Performs additional duties as required
- Experience in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating work activities in a customer service setting.
- Ability to manage and supervise others.
- Experience in analyzing staffing levels for custodial operations for facilities.
- Ability to effectively schedule, organize and coordinate work, production activities, safety measures and procedures under stress and within pressing deadlines.
- Ability to use computer programs, including Windows, Excel, and Event Management Software (EMS).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and/or irregular hours as determined by operational activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people.
- Physical job requirements: frequent walking, movement and standing, with occasional sitting. Ability to work with cables and move approximately 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Bachelor's of Arts or Business Degree.
- Requires at least 3 years' experience in operations and custodial services.
- Requires at least (2) years of staff supervisory experience, preferably in a college/university setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Organizational Leadership or related field.
- 3 years of experience working in a college student union or student center.
- Experience in a large, non-profit corporation.
