Primary Function
Operations Manager will directly supervise the facility and be responsible for holding the staff at the plant accountable to achieve cost-effective, high quality and on-time manufacturing of products. You will be involved in material procurement, customer order planning/scheduling, product manufacturing, new product development, cost reduction initiatives and shipping. This highly visible role has broad responsibility for the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of operational performance across a broad range of deliverables.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading operations to meet a broad range of deliverables across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Revenue, Profit, and Productivity, in accordance with divisional and corporate objectives.
- Perform Financial/Operational management of the group to include Monitoring and exceeding forecasted profit levels, developing an annual operations master plan, maintain monthly shipments, Profit/ Variance objectives and provide service and quality to customers.
- Directly oversee and provide leadership to numerous department managers, who in practice report solely to the local plant manager on all principal matters, both technical and administrative in nature. These include Product Manufacturing, New Product Development, Purchasing, Production Control, Shipping, Facility Management, Quality and Process Engineering.
- Provide directions to local site purchasing personnel to develop and maintain a vendor base that provides product quality and consistency with objectives.
- Must manage complex projects and bring them to completion on time and within budget and present results to upper management.
- Implement remedial actions to address impasses or interferences in the production line and set up preventive measures to lessen repetition of actions.
- Provides leadership on common goals affecting manufacturing and engineering regarding product development and makes available to subordinate department managers the insight, resources, time, budgetary resources to improve operations, and further their plans and pragmatic ideas.
- Anticipates trends and tendencies of the principal operations throughout the plant and advises plant managers of difficulties likely to develop and provides alternative courses of action.
- Makes available to subordinate managers realistic and achievable standards and assumes the delegated responsibility for the accomplished work of all their activities within the realm of reasonable expectations.
- Works with Sales/ Marketing/ Demand Planning to react to customer changes/ request with delivery schedules and product/process revisions.
- Plans facility upgrades to achieve manufacturing efficiencies, accomplishes new product/process introductions and satisfies safety and environmental requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Lead a safety-first culture across the manufacturing organization. Drive improvements in safety and environmental metrics.
- Drive a zero-defect mindset, high service levels and a customer-oriented approach. Ensure that consumer complaints are answered completely and in a timely manner, with effective root cause investigation and corrective actions.
- Drive usage of Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, SPC, and other relevant modern approaches to manufacturing excellence.
- Manage sites to meet aggressive revenue growth and profitability targets, while closely controlling labor and other budget items
- Ensure all sites meet or exceed industry requirements, including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and stringent customer specs.
- Manage certain complex projects and bring them to successful completion within time and budget constraints, including plant start-ups, product line relocations, and other highly complex activities
- Work effectively in a cross-functional organization through mutually beneficial relationships with other teams including: Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, R&D, and others.
- Develop and mentor high performing teams in the plants, in particular the Plant Managers
- Develop relationships with certain customers and suppliers, and participate in interactions as a key representative of the company
- Maintain operations' conformance to company policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local regulations, in cooperation with local leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in the manufacturing and/or engineering of small parts in a high volume.
- Must have experience with sophisticated electronic components, and business activity.
- Must have a strong operational and technical background.
- A self-starter who does not require daily follow-up and can gain the respect of experienced managers.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels and the ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Must maintain a daily working relationship with senior management.
- Must possess an in-depth working knowledge of electronic components.
- Ability to use personal computers programs.
- Must have a history of leadership and the ability to drive manufacturing excellence, including: Lean, TPM, continuous improvement and problem solving methods (i.e. Six Sigma), and modern quality systems such as SPC, 8D/RCCA, etc.
- Excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) as well as contracting and negotiation skills for interactions with customers and suppliers
- Demonstrated business acumen & strong project management skills
- High proficiency using Microsoft Office and other similar software application
