Duties
Summary
The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.
Responsibilities
This position is located in the Dignitary Protection Division, Protective ServicesBureau, United States Capitol Police(USCP). Performs a broad range of technical andadministrative services to support sworn and civilianstaff. Provides human resources support services, automation/computer support,records maintenance, report/information consolidation and similar functions. Performs a range of operational support activities, including monitoring andanalyzing workflow issues and projects in consultation with supervisors and/orsenior officials. Performs other official duties as assigned. Due to the natureof a police force and emergency operations, civilians may be called upon toperform emergency operations duties outside the realm of their expertise. Other duties as assigned may vary significantly from the primary duties of theposition, and the incumbent as a Federal law enforcement agency employee mustbe fully aware of this possibility.
At the full performance level of CP-06/GS-08, the duties include the following:
Prepares, maintains, and certifies automated Time and Attendance reports andmonitors leave balances using the Workbrain system. Provides assistanceand/or information to officials and officers with overtime requests, leaverequests, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) applications, Paid Parentalapplications, pay certification, payroll corrections, workers' compensationpaperwork, requests for advance leave, requests for leave without pay, andsimilar services as requested.
Serves as the organization's liaison for officesupport services.
Organizes and maintains office files, records, manuals, and related materials in accordance with established policies and procedures.Plans and coordinates extensive office support services for specialized orunique program or office needs. Responds to inquiries and requests forassistance on administrative problems. Maintains procurement files anddatabases in accordance with Federal regulations and agency directives.
Establishes control records on incoming correspondence and action documents,following up on work in progress to ensure timely action. Reads incomingcorrespondence, publications, regulations, court notifications and subpoenas,and directives that may affect the organization and assigned officers. Reviewsdocuments requiring coordination by the supervisor for conformance withregulations, grammar, format, and special policies of the organization. Uses a database to obtain a document tracking number to log out documents tovarious offices.
Assists in the preparation of requests for procurement, training, travelauthorizations, travel vouchers, reimbursements, and other forms as needed,using applicable automated systems.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.
For the CP-06 level, you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-05/GS-07 level. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as: 1) developing and implementing administrative procedures and general policies; 2) analyzing and interpreting information related to administrative functions; 3) entering, updating, and managing data across various systems while addressing and correcting any errors or inconsistencies; 4) completing basic financial tasks in support of the budget process; and 5) independently completing reports and projects for the organization.
