Role and Facility Information

Position Summary

Within the context of a patient and family-centered model of care, and in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care ("Providence"), the Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a Glaucoma Specialist/Ophthalmologist at Providence Health Care.

The successful applicant will be provided admitting/surgical privileges at Mount St. Joseph Hospital (MSJ). They will be required to run a Resident Teaching Clinic at St. Paul's Hospital (SPH) each week and provide a leadership role in Resident Teaching both in clinic and the operating room. The primary practice location will be Vancouver (minimum 4 days/week).

Interest and experience working with socioeconomically disadvantaged patients will be considered an asset for this appointment. The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, in the Faculty of Medicine, at the University of British Columbia.

Qualifications

Applicant must hold or be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada in Ophthalmology and be eligible for licensing by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. Applicants must have a minimum one year surgical glaucoma fellowship training. Expertise in pediatric glaucoma surgery will be considered an asset.
