Leidos has an opening for an Orion Human Factors Engineer. This position will be within the Leidos Health & Civil Sector, which supports the Human Health and Performance Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. This is your opportunity to join the myriad of teams sustaining a human presence in space while working to return humans to the moon and beyond. At this time, we are seeking to expand the Human Factors and System Management team. This team provides research, analysis, evaluation and usability testing of crew interfaces for work areas and equipment. This includes computer displays and controls, workstation systems, and other types of crew interfaces. The group has a unique capability with a staff experienced in the rigors of both cognitive human factors and ergonomic research and evaluations. Specifically, this position is for support of the Orion Program. Orion activities consist of providing support to the design and development of human-to-system interfaces, including requirements development, task analysis, low- and mid-fidelity prototyping, modeling, and iterative crew evaluations.
US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency and the ability to successful obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance are required.

Pay Range: Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide human systems expertise and support to the design and development of Orion vehicle human-to-system interfaces.
- Assist the Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) test lead by developing test plans, coordinating with facilities and mockup personnel, collaborating with Prime and subject matter experts, conducting the data collection and analysis, and delivering presentations to Program management.
- Leverage human factors requirement applicability and implementation on Orion Exploration Mission 3 vehicle development.
- Provide development and verification planning/testing.
- Provide human engineering technical support to the Orion Project Office, including attending Cockpit Working Group meetings and responding to actions.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree with 3+ years in a human-system related field (human factors, industrial engineering, or closely-related technical discipline).
- Experience with conducting Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) testing in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction or Displays & Controls as well as requirements verification is required.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities and be very detail-oriented.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including effective communication between external groups and report writing.
- Must be able to handle a variety of work expectations, be a self-starter, and be able to work independently and collaboratively after initial training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with NASA, ISS, Orion, or related work.
- Experience with Handling Qualities (HQ) or piloting experience.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD-1472, NASA-STD-3001).
- Ability to effectively interact with customers at all levels.
