Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills and relevant experience. Summary

Responsibilities
- Performs and documents medical, physical, psychosocial and nutritional assessment on both new and established patients
- Obtain and review medical history
- Order and review appropriate diagnostic testing
- Evaluate patients for undiagnosed obesity related complications that may impact their overall health and/or participation in weight management treatment options.
- Evaluates for and initiates specialist consults as deemed appropriate
- Utilizing appropriate physician collaboration
- provides appropriate treatment for any complication related to obesity management interventions;
- assume responsibility for prescribing FDA approved appetite suppressants and other weight loss medications when appropriate; adhere to OMA guidelines and FDA prescribing guidelines; understand and prescribe off label use of medication with proper informed consent;
- provide preventative medication counseling; monitor for treatment progress and potential treatment side effects
- Coordinate patient follow-up, reviews and communicate results from labs and other diagnostic studies; provide prescription refills according to practice protocols
- Participate in multidisciplinary care team; refer to various team members as appropriate; work collaboratively to provide comprehensive approach to obesity and related complications to optimize treatment for the patient
- Maintain accurate and timely records of encounters in the practice EMR; respond to patient messages and results in a timely manner, and address concerns.
- Complete prior authorizations for prescription medication related to obesity management as necessary and as part of a team
- Have a team mentality and be willing to step in wherever needed.
- Provides a positive and professional representation of the organization.
- Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention.
- Maintains standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experience.
- Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments as related to scope within Metabolic and Obesity Management. Stays up to date on current medications, standards of practice and OMA algorithm updates.
- Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.
- Maintains compliance with organization's policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards.
- Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service through attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization.
- Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and/or standards from other accrediting bodies, such as The Joint Commission, Rural Health, and Center for Medicare Services.
- Works closely with physician supervisors as a critical member of OrthoHealth care team.

- Minimum Education: Graduate of an approved accredited advanced practice nursing program or physician assistant program. Completed education in Obesity medicine either through OMA or another reputable organization. Willing to participate and obtain Certificate of Advanced Education by Obesity Medicine Association within 2 years of hire.
- Work Experience: Previous experience in Family or Internal Medicine preferred. Previous NP/PA experience required of at least 1 year. Previous experience in Obesity Medicine and weight management programs preferred.
- Required License/ Certification/Registration: Current Illinois. Basic Life Support Certification. DEA license as required by department. Must be board certified by the appropriate governing body
