Objective:
This position works closely with the On Site Support (OSS) teams located at Air Framer Final Assembly Lines (FALs) to provide upstream Engineering inputs during the development of new programs. This position is also the primary representative for the OSS and an active contributor to Air Framer DFI and DFMA activity workshops. This position resolves engineering issues that arise after product delivery, through the application of engineering and design principles, including issues related to field service and warranty activities. This position is based in Everett WA with frequent travel to Safran Seats manufacturing sites in France, Great Britian and Texas as well as Air Framer FALs in the Americas.
Authorities:
This position has the authority and control to initiate Design Change requests per Safran Business unit Engineering processes. This position does not MRB authority unless specifically authorized by the certifying Safran entity.
Main Function Responsibilities
A) Interfaces directly with the customer and aircraft manufacturer, manufacturing and engineers to assist with engineering problems in all aspects of Aircraft FAL support.
B) Reviews structural sub-assemblies and applicable drawings to assure conformance to requirements as required for installation and aircraft delivery issues
C) Acts as the primary interface during Air Framer collaborative DFI and DFMA activities. May participate in additional program milestone meetings as needed.
D) Provides an engineering and manufacturing engineering perspective to all assigned Product Support Requests
E) Suggests design changes as needed, and communicates with other engineering groups (e.g. project engineers, certification engineers, etc.) to ensure proper compliance with regulatory, airframe, and Safran Seats procedural requirements.
F) Completes necessary administrative tasks as required.
G) Contributes to the technical topics of the Lessons Learned Database
H) Performs other duties as assigned.
Travel specifictity
International and/or Domestic travel required; 80% in office 20% travel to domestic or international locations.
Candidate skills & requirements
Qualification Requirements:
A. Education & Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering is preferred or 6 years of directly related experience.
B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge:
Requires at least three years combined experience in product support, manufacturing or engineering functions
Two years related experience preferred.
C. Professional Skills:
Must have proven ability to work well with customers or aircraft manufacturer and with all management levels under stressful situations, and the ability to communicate customer needs to all departments within the company in an efficient manner
Must have knowledge and experience in design, fabrication or assembly methods.
Must be competent in dealing with blueprints, work modifications, MRP systems, and other engineering tools (3D Modeling, Auto-Cad/Pro-Engineer, CATIA, etc.)
Must be proficient in job-related computer activities
Knowledge of structural and mechanical properties preferred.
Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.
Ability to read and review written communication.
Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.
D. Behavioral Skills:
Must be able to interface with all departments outside or within the company, including program management, spares, supply chain, engineering, and operations
Must be able to function as part of a team.
Must have effective interpersonal skills, good command of written and verbal communication skills.
E. Desirable Aspects:
APQP, D&PFMEA, Control Plan,
CATIA V.5, SmartTeam, SolidWorks
DMFA, DFI
French (ACTFL 3) is a huge plus.
