Description:
The Seasonal Occupational Therapist is responsible for implementing physician orders for Occupational Therapy services.
The therapist provides necessary aspects of therapy within an interdisciplinary environment.
The goal is to facilitate the patient's return to an independent and safe lifestyle.
A knowledge base in growth and development is essential for care across pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
The therapist must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients served.
The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status is essential.
Interpreting information to identify each patient's requirements is necessary.
The therapist constructs short-term, long-term, and patient/family goals.
They utilize appropriate functional tests and assimilate objective measures for evaluation.
Documentation must be secure and proper in the Electronic Medical Record.
The therapist should demonstrate critical thinking with patient evaluation and treatment planning.
An understanding of physical agent modalities like moist heat and paraffin is necessary.
Proper knowledge of the cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, nervous, and integumentary system is needed.
Age-specific patient care indicators should guide the provision of care.
The therapist identifies the learning needs of patients or family members.
They work as a team member to assist patients/families throughout the care continuum.
Initiative towards completion of treatment is required.
The therapist must manage constant walking, balancing, and other physical tasks.
