Job Description

Physical Therapists/Occupational Therapists - New Grads and Level I, II, and III's

A $5K sign-on bonus is available!

In this role, you will be responsible for the physical therapy/occupational management of patients under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy Supervisor.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST

Essential Functions:
Assumes all responsibilities as outlined in Physical Therapist II job description.
Provides consultation and mentoring to the physical therapy staff in their
specific area of specialization.
Provides education to physical therapists through formal and informal education in their specific specialty both locally and regionally.
Assists in the development and implementation of new clinical practice models for the delivery of care to members who require their expertise.
For their area of specialty, acts as a consultant to staff members for the management of patients and is a resource for on-going, professional development of the staff in their specialty. Assesses staff competencies, clinical judgment, education, and training needs in their specialty. Provides direct patient care, especially for patients with complex problems related to their specialty.
Provides competent patient care at a senior level as defined below. Senior therapists provide leadership to the
department, supervise PTA's students and support staff. Provides a leadership role to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of physical therapy services.
Provides clinical direction to staff in our role as senior staff.
Assumes responsibility for the management of high volume of patients, including those with complex problems or special needs in their area of specialty.
Provides assistance to Supervisor as needed and covers for Supervisor when out of the office.
Provides coverage as needed in other facilities within the service area if appropriate.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Essential Functions:
Tests and evaluates the extent of a patient's disability to ensure proper treatment using various tests
and procedures.
Plans therapy program, establishes treatment goals; and administers treatment to restore body functions, strength, relieve pain, and prevent disability through the use of various therapeutic techniques and
procedures. This includes patients in establishing goals and obtains patient's informed consent as necessary. Provides patients and family members with treatment plan and instructions for home exercise programs and pain relief techniques.
Upgrades treatment plan and goals as patient progresses.
Regularly assesses clinical signs and symptoms to determine effectiveness of treatment, progress of patient towards goals, and the need for modifying goals and treatment.
Discharges patient from occupational therapy when the patient has received maximum benefit from occupational therapy.
Provides accurate and timely documentation of Occupational therapy management and patient
management.
Maintains appropriate medical records, documentation for each patient including evaluation, treatment and progress.
Consults with medical providers regarding patient evaluation and treatment, progress of the patient,
and discharge from treatment. Reviews patient records for current diagnosis,
past medical history, precautions, and contraindications.
Maintains compliance with documentation standards of department and regulatory
agencies.
Establishes safe work environment.
Maintains clinical competency and ethical standards as outlined in the guidelines of the AOTA.
Maintains departmental supplies, equipment, and apparatus in clean, safe and functional condition.
Directs and instructs support personnel in
performance of more routine procedures as requested.
Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations with the public patients and other
personnel.
Provides triage Occupational Therapy services by providing advice and care either by means of phone triage and/or 1st Contact OT.
Provides input and/or assistance to Senior Occupational Therapist and
Occupational Therapy Supervisor in the development of new classes, services,
member and provider education, development of handouts, and other related
services.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
A graduate of an accredited physical therapy curriculum with a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree with certification in physical therapy/occupational therapy, or foreign-trained equivalent
Licensure to practice physical therapy/occupational therapy by the State of Virginia, Maryland, and/or the District of Columbia
BLS certification
National Provider Identification (NPI)
At least zero to five years of full-time experience as follows:

o PHYSICAL THERAPISTS

New Grad - zero years'

PT I - one year

PT II - three years'

PT III - five years'

o OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

New Grad - zero years'

OT I - one year

OT II - three years'

OT III - five years'
Experience in the following specializations preferred: Certified Hand Therapist or working towards certification, manual certification Orthopedics, sports medicine, vestibular diagnosis, Neurological, pelvic health Lymphedema, women's health
Enrollment in PECOS within thirty days of assignment to position
Expertise or specialization required in any of the following: completion of a post graduate degree from an accredited university with a specialty focus, completion of a fellowship or has obtained a certificate from an accredited body or organization in a subject matter that is pertinent to our patient population and is clinic based, or can demonstrate expertise 100% competency in a particular subject matter in a clinical subject matter in high demand or in a clinical subject matter that we have limited resources or specialists on staff, or can demonstrate 100% competency that has been gained from years of clinical experience from treating pertinent diagnosis or patient population
The ability to demonstrate leadership skills and problem-solving abilities in the clinic and to our members
The ability to demonstrate behavior consistent with the criteria for professional practice
The ability to successfully perform all core competencies completely
Demonstrated leadership in project management, teaching, clinical instructor for students, committee membership
