POSITION TITLE: Elementary Principal-Brooke Primary North - Effective 24/25SY

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Master's Degree from an accredited institution, with a major in administration and/or supervision, with a West Virginia Principal Certification for Grades K-8, or be eligible for the internship license
  • Successful administrative experience preferred
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with community organizations and leaders
  • Knowledge of Effective Schools/Teaching Research as it applied to the management of a primary school
  • Knowledge/experience in preparing a school schedule and duty schedules
  • Knowledge/experience utilizing the West Virginia Educational Information System
  • Knowledge/experience coordinating Child Nutrition Program
  • Knowledge/experience in utilizing West Virginia Department of Education Internet Access System
  • Knowledge/experience in observing and reviewing with teachers their performance in instruction and classroom management
  • Knowledge/experience in assessing the needs of a school, evaluating the effectiveness of school practices, developing school improvement plans, setting goals, and establishing policies to manage day-to-day decisions
  • Knowledge/experience in holding staff meetings, assessing staff responsibilities, analyzing school personnel needs, and arranging for staff development training
  • Knowledge/experience in the analysis and utilization of test data to improve learning
  • Ability to establish working relationships among administrators, teachers, and parents to improve learning, confidence, and morale for students, parents, and teachers
  • Demonstrate capability of reviewing current trends and research, and ability to apply to learning setting
  • Ability to develop school goals and objectives in accordance with county and state policy
  • Knowledge/experience preparing, allocating, and managing a school and student activities budget
  • Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as an Assistant Principal
  • Ability to communicate effectively through clear, concise writing and verbal skills
  • Willing to attend the West Virginia Principal's Academy or have attended the West Virginia Principal's Academy
  • Required to participate in a Beginning Principal's Mentorship Program as adopted in HB 2700
  • Maintain effective working relationship with Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Staff
  • Develop Unified School Improvement Plan in compliance with West Virginia Board of Education Policy
  • Provide instructional leadership and support within the school building
  • Provide safe school environment for staff and students
  • Create a climate conducive to teaching and learning
  • Implement a system to monitor student progress
  • Establish and implement a school improvement process
  • Establish good public and employee relations
  • Evaluate personnel under his/her supervision
  • Maintain professional work habits
  • Maintain and upgrade his/her professional skills
  • Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline, as necessary, according to due process rights of students
  • Maintain school fiscal and ordering responsibilities
  • Maintain active participation in school committees/organization. This includes, but is not limited to, School Curriculum Team, Faculty Senate, Local School Improvement Council, and Parent/Teacher Association
  • Plans and supervises fire drills and emergency preparedness procedures
  • Maintain appropriate supervision and direction for maintenance of building and facilities (buildings and grounds)
  • Arrive at school prior to the arrival of the first student and remain at school until the last student departs
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or appointed designee

Employment: 210 days per year. Salary based on Brooke County Teacher Salary Schedule and Principals' Supplemental Index.
Evaluation: In accordance with the Brooke County Board of Education's Policy of Evaluation of
Professional Employees.

Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits
package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
