Who You'll Work With
Arista Networks is seeking a skilled Packaging Engineer to design, develop, and optimize packaging solutions for our cutting-edge networking hardware. As a Packaging Engineer, you will work closely with product design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to deliver world-class packaging solutions. You will spend ~50% of your time working in the NPI process and ~50% in sustaining (cost down and sustainability initiatives, continuous improvement, CM/DF support, etc). This position will require leadership, communication, and team-building skills as well as the ability to creatively solve complex problems and develop sustainable solutions/processes.

Compensation Information
The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $110,000 to $142,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista's Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. US-based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection. What You'll Do
- Interact in a team environment with Mechanical Engineers, Logistics, Program Management, Supply Chain Management, and Arista's packaging suppliers to develop packaging solutions that ensure product integrity during shipping and storage.
- Collaborate with product engineers to integrate packaging considerations into early-stage product design
- Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for packaging designs.
- Reduce transportation costs and optimize Arista packaging for distribution channels
- Carry out package and bare product testing (e.g., drop, vibration, compression, shock) to validate designs and ensure compliance with industry standards (ISTA, ASTM, etc.).
- Manage Package Assembly BOMs, new part creation, ECO/MCO/Deviations etc in PLM database
- Develop or improve product package process documents to improve ability of our contract manufacturers to package product correctly and reduce product damage while reducing process cost
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of protective packaging design experience - in electronics preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency/experience in Pro-Engineer (or other CAD programs) and in ArtiosCAD desired.
- Strong knowledge of package design, development, manufacturing and change management processes.
- Experienced with designing and developing custom packaging and crating solutions for large, fragile, or heavy products to ensure safe transportation and delivery.
- Specific knowledge of modern packaging materials and fabrication processes and the trade-offs associated with their use.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
- Education: BSME, BS Packaging degree, or equivalent.
- Ability to exhibit lean engineering qualities in process development and ongoing quality control.
- Experience with packaging testing standards and equipment (e.g., ISTA, ASTM).
- Ability to effectively balance and prioritize several projects at once.
