Primary Purpose

The Port Arthur LNG Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Port Arthur LNG Plant. This key management role involves leading and developing a team of professionals to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective production of LNG. The Operations Manager will focus on leadership, people development, and flawless execution of daily operational duties, with a strong emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance, and process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Team Development:
    • Provide guidance, leadership, and support to all levels of the operations team.
    • Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, professional growth, and teamwork.
    • Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and career progression.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Oversee the daily operations of the LNG facility, ensuring adherence to safe operating limits, production targets, and maintaining overall plant reliability.
    • Manage both planned and unplanned maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
    • Ensure flawless execution of operational duties with a focus on safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, industry standards, and contractual obligations.
    • Promote a strong safety culture, prioritizing process safety and personnel safety at all times.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Functional Support:
    • Provide functional support to the Production Manager, Maintenance Director, HSE Manager, and Engineering Director when necessary.
    • Manage the work performed by the operations team and assigned contractors, ensuring high standards of performance and accountability.


About the Facility: The Port Arthur LNG facility is a $14 billion project, representing a significant investment in the region's energy infrastructure. As a key member of the management team, the Operations Manager will play a crucial role in the success and growth of this world-class facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the development and implementation of detailed short-term and long-term planning to ensure maximum availability of the LNG plant.
  • Ensure monthly and annual operating plans, as defined by Operational KPIs and Financial statements, are achieved by the team.
  • Ensure adherence to technical, financial, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Review regular reports on operational performance, as well as quality, health, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Responsible for the annual operating and/or capital budgets and implement controls for expenditures.
  • Manage a safe and healthy workplace for staff and ensure health, safety, and emergency requirements are met, including adequate emergency coverage.
  • Provide leadership in emergency situations as required.
  • Develop new operations procedures and work instructions and train operations staff in safe, reliable, and efficient methods of LNG manufacturing.
  • Ensure all operators are fully trained and competent to start up and operate the plant.
  • Ensure all manpower is employed productively and efficiently at all times to minimize cost and maximize output.
  • Maximize the value generated for the company and optimize the availability of the plant.
  • Ensure operations meet production targets in terms of quantity and quality specified.
  • Represent the Operations Director in their absence.
  • Ensure the observation of all regulatory codes, corporate values, and plans and procedures related to safety, health, environmental, quality, and business continuity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).


Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or an equivalent amount of training and experience in LNG operations or a similar industry. Required
  • Master's Degree Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant fields are a plus.. Preferred

Experience
  • 12 Combined operating/maintenance/engineering experience in LNG terminal. Required
  • 5 Operating supervisory experience. Required
  • Experience in APCI LNG liquefaction facilities. Preferred

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong leadership, Strong interpersonal and Strong communication skills. Advanced
  • Sound knowledge of Process engineering processes Advanced
  • Ability to competently act as Board Operator and/or Shift Supervisor Advanced
  • Ability to effectively lead, delegate and motivate Advanced

  • High level of HSE knowledge Advanced
  • Good personnel management, interpersonal skills, communications & organizational skills are essential Advanced
