The Role

The a16z security team is dedicated to ensuring the highest level of physical security across all aspects of the firm. We leverage advanced security tools and programs designed to align with and support the firm's business objectives. Our comprehensive security strategy covers physical office spaces, global events, and the unique operational needs of our organization.

We are looking for a highly skilled program manager with proven experience and exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively manage projects across multiple security verticals, ensuring accountability and adherence to objectives and mission. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, a strategic mindset, and outstanding organizational skills. They should be adept at multitasking and skilled in optimizing efficiencies using the latest program management tools. Additionally, the candidate must excel in delivering key metrics, reports, and briefings to essential stakeholders.

This role will require an in-office and event presence in the Washington D.C. office.

  • Enhance the effectiveness and maturity of the overall security program while successfully executing assigned projects in support of on-going security operations
  • Manage high-visibility and mission-critical on-going security upgrade projects
  • Produce detailed reports, publications, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of security programs, budget, vendor management and initiatives
  • Coordinate with global teams to ensure projects meet objectives and deadlines
  • Evaluate security systems and procedures to ensure they operate efficiently and comply with established security protocols
  • Oversee the development and implementation of security protocols, procedures, and policies for physical office spaces, global events, executive travel, and unique operational needs
  • Collaborate with intelligence units, law enforcement agencies, and global security networks to remain informed of potential threats
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; 5+ years of program management experience within a security environment
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing program solutions for efficiency
  • Organizational skills, including ability to efficiently manage schedules, timelines, and multiple tasks simultaneously is critical
  • Operate autonomously in a fast moving environment
  • Candidate must have professional experience with Google Workspace, a workable level of experience with Notion is preferred, and the desire and ability to learn new tools and software as needed for this exciting role
  • This role will require 20-30% travel
  • Certification in related fields preferred but not required:
    • Project Management Professional (PMP)
    • Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM)
  • Low ego, high empathy, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $176,000 - $205,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.

This role is eligible to participate in the a16z Carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
