Direct Counsel is seeking a Patent Agent or Scientific Advisor with a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field to join a leading life sciences patent counseling and prosecution practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge innovations, assisting attorneys in patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct prior art searches for patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Analyze scientific literature and patents to support patent prosecution and litigation.
• Draft patent applications and respond to USPTO office actions.
• Advise attorneys on complex technical matters related to depositions and patent strategy.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field.
• Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
• USPTO registration or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam.
• Prior experience in patent prosecution preferred but not required.
• Law school tuition assistance is available for those interested in pursuing a J.D.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $125,000 - $205,000 (Final offer based on experience and location).
