The Payroll Director oversees all aspects of the payroll operations. Ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance to all State and Local regulations, timely filing of all federal, state and local payroll tax, professional development of the payroll team and produce all monthly reports.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Oversees payroll processing for the dealerships, DSS and DSC
  • Ensures payroll is being processed timely and within company guidelines
  • Ensures proper processing of Leave of Absence, FMLA and Personal Time Off
  • Monitors and reviews various accruals for PTO, Holiday and Sick time in accordance with state and local laws
  • Review and maintain the proper rate calculations for time off and FLSA requirements
  • Review and assist in processing of all RSA's and annual bonus programs
  • Ensures all key/internal controls are maintained
  • Ensures conformance with all Federal, State and local laws and regulations
  • Ensures general ledger entries are posted timely and accurately
  • Monthly intercompany reconciliations as necessary
  • Reviews and approves payroll audit trail for all employee file updates
  • Develops training programs and implements continuous training for all payroll associates
  • Identifies processes for improvement and works with Sr Director to implement efficiencies
  • Ensures outstanding payroll checks are properly managed and reported in accordance with Federal law
  • Develops solid communication plan between payroll department associates, field Human Resource team and dealership management
  • Monitors payroll system setups to ensure accuracy in accruals and calculated fields and recommends any changes necessary
  • Coordinates requests from auditors, internal, external and regulatory agencies
  • Develops action plans to address audit controls and recommendations
  • Keeps current on technical developments in the field including payroll, human resources, and tax regulations
  • Reviews Payroll associate's performance while utilizing training and accountability to improve performance
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and control of system data and organizational changes
  • Performs other related duties to benefit the mission/vision of the organization

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 5+ Years of Payroll Management experience in a company with 5,000 - 10,000 employees
  • Public company experience required
  • Strong controls, compliance, tax, background
  • Dayforce/Ceridian experience a plus
  • A solid understanding of payroll process and tax filing
  • Acute attention to detail, process and organization
  • Advanced Excel and MS Office skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
