Description:
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the payroll operations for both union and non-union employees. This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payrolls using UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) software. The Payroll Manager will play a critical role leading a team and in maintaining compliance with labor agreements, tax regulations, and organizational policies while fostering a positive employee experience related to payroll matters.

Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Oversee and manage the accurate processing of payroll for union and non-union employees on a weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly basis using UKG and an in-house system for some union operations.
- Compliance & Regulations: Ensure adherence to union contracts, company policies, and local, state, and federal payroll regulations. This includes accurate calculations for taxes, deductions, and benefits.
- Data Management: Maintain and update employee payroll data, ensuring accuracy in employee records, pay rates, and benefit deductions.
- Reporting & Reconciliation: Prepare and submit payroll reports, including wage statements, tax filings, year-end reports, and union required post payroll reports and payment. Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve issues as they arise.
- Employee Inquiries: Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions, addressing concerns related to wages, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure seamless payroll processing and resolution of issues. Ensure payroll data aligns with employee attendance, leaves, and overtime records.
- Audit & Accuracy: Review and audit payroll data for completeness and accuracy before payroll runs. Implement internal controls to ensure compliance and prevent errors.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and recommend improvements to payroll processes for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years of payroll management experience, with expertise in both union and non-union payroll processing.
- Software Knowledge: Strong proficiency in UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) or similar payroll software is required.
- Compliance Knowledge: Solid understanding of payroll regulations, union contracts, tax laws, and benefit deductions.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of data while ensuring accuracy.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for addressing employee concerns and collaborating with other departments.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve payroll discrepancies and issues in a timely manner.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple payroll schedules and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Payroll certification (e.g., CPP) is a plus.
- Experience in a unionized work environment is highly preferred.
