Opportunity Overview
Rhythm Pharmaceuticals is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join our Finance team. In this role, you will be directly involved in overseeing and processing US and Canada payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with ADP Workforce Now and a strong understanding of payroll compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. This position is based in Boston and follows a hybrid work model to promote collaboration and flexibility.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage and process regular bi-weekly payrolls using ADP Workforce Now.
- Process off-cycle bonus and equity payrolls.
- Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Oversee payroll tax filings, payments, corrections, and resolve tax issues.
- Register payroll tax accounts in new tax jurisdictions and maintain validation tables in ADP.
- Partner with payroll providers to support payroll configuration updates.
- Adhere to established payroll processes, internal controls, and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments on payroll-related projects, audits, reporting, and reconciliations.
- Address employee payroll inquiries promptly, professionally, and with a service mindset, providing clear explanations regarding deductions, adjustments, and general payroll issues.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, ensuring any errors are corrected quickly and thoroughly.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve payroll processing and overall payroll experience for employees.
- Prepare payroll-related reports.
- Manage US quarterly and year-end processes.
- Other ad hoc projects and related tasks as necessary to drive our mission and culture
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of payroll experience, including exposure to multi-state payroll.
- ADP Workforce Now experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll laws and regulations.
- Highly proficient in Excel and a strong eye for detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Exceptional communication skills to interact with employees and payroll service providers.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
