The Department of Pediatrics at CHEO, University of Ottawa is recruiting a full-time Pediatric Infectious Diseases physician within the Division of Infectious Diseases, Immunology and Allergy for a contract term from December 2024 until March 2026.
The ideal candidate will be Royal College certified or equivalent in Pediatrics, with additional training or experience in infectious diseases. In addition, they should also have a demonstrated interest in both research and education. The successful candidate will be eligible for a faculty appointment in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa at an academic rank commensurate with experience. While English is the language of the health record, functionality in French is an asset.
The Department of Pediatrics is affiliated with CHEO, the CHEO Research Institute and the University of Ottawa. Together, we provide outstanding patient care, leading research, and quality pediatric medical education. The Department of Pediatrics provides health care to newborns, children and youth of the Ottawa area, as well as those from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, Nunavut and parts of Northern Ontario (population of approximately 1.8 million). The Department of Pediatrics has 18 distinct divisions, which includes Infectious Diseases, Immunology and Allergy.
The Division of Infectious Diseases, Immunology and Allergy currently consists of 11 clinicians who are dynamic, highly engaged, and dedicated to excellence in patient care, academic activity, and research. The successful candidate will join this dynamic multidisciplinary division that provides subspecialty care to children and youth ranging in age from fetal life to age 18 years.
A strong interest in teaching is a must, as the division supports rotations for undergraduate, postgraduate and allied health learners. Interest in expanding the research portfolio of the division is an asset.
The clinical role will include inpatient, outpatient infectious diseases services and on-call coverage.
