Job Description
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida, seeks a full-time pediatric pathologist.
The successful candidate should have a M.D. or D.O. degree, possess (or be eligible for) unrestricted Florida medical licensure. He/she should be board certified in anatomic pathology or anatomic and clinical pathology, as well as have certification (or be board eligible) or have extensive experience in pediatric pathology. In addition, more than 3 years of experience as a pediatric pathologist is highly desirable. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides anatomic pathology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, and hematology services. There is a wide spectrum of anatomic pathology cases, such as bone and soft tissue pathology, muscle biopsy, epilepsy pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, and fine needle aspiration cytology. Nemours will transition to Epic Beaker in May 2025, setting the stage for a digital pathology adoption strategy thereafter. The ideal candidate will work with 3 pediatric pathologists, including one board-certified hematopathologist, sharing the responsibility of all pediatric surgical pathology and autopsy cases.
Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida, is a state-of-the-art pediatric hospital that is the anchor for pediatric medicine in Orlando's Medical City, located in the renowned Lake Nona community (see http://learnlakenona.com). The Medical City, which includes the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, Orlando VA Hospital, and the University of Florida Research and Academic Center, provides research and academic collaboration opportunities. A faculty appointment at the Department of Pediatrics or the Department of Clinical Science at the University of Central Florida will be at an Assistant, associate of Full Professor (Clinical Track) level, commensurate with the candidate's experience and academic achievement.
