Job Title: Pediatric Speech Therapist
Job Specialty: Speech Therapy
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in a pediatric setting
License: Must be licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist
Certifications: Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
Must-Have: Epic experience
Job Description:
- Provide speech language services to children (infants through age 21) in a medical-based, outpatient clinic.
- Evaluate and treat patients with various speech, language, cognitive, and/or swallowing issues.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses and adhere to accepted clinical practice guidelines.
- Complete documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and meet all regulatory requirements.
- Address a variety of patient diagnoses, including developmental delay, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, genetic syndromes, cleft palate, autism spectrum disorders, articulation/speech language delays, muscular dystrophy, and feeding and swallowing impairments.
- Conduct numerous evaluations and develop schedules to transition work to a permanent Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Utilize a range of assessment tools, toys, books, and games to optimize treatment sessions and track functional progress.
- Use available tools for feeding and swallowing treatment.
- Document patient information using electronic medical records.
- Participate in a supportive and collaborative team environment with opportunities for professional growth.
Additional Comments:
- Work schedule consists of 8-hour shifts with no weekends, holidays, or on-call duties.
- Department-specific training and orientation are provided, including electronic medical record training and support from experienced speech therapists.
