SUMMARY:
The Staff Physician provides continuing, comprehensive health maintenance and medical care to the patients of Butler County Community Health Consortium. All duties are performed with specific focus on providing culturally competent health care to the underserved. Acts as the advocate for improving health care quality and access for all populations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy. Board certified in one of the primary care specialties. Current State of Ohio Medical license. Clinical teaching experience and private practice experience desirable. Two years experience working with indigent populations and community based programs preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to gain knowledge of current practice management system, electronic medical record, Microsoft Word, Internet, and Intranet.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Ohio Medical license; Board Certification in a primary care specialty.
OTHER SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work effectively and independently with all levels of clinical and administrative staff within the health centers and with community leaders. Strong leadership qualities leadership experience. Demonstrated program development and implementation skills. Ability to represent the organization effectively in a variety of settings and with diverse communities. Demonstrated understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures.

CLINICAL DUTIES:
- Provides primary medical care to the Butler County Community Health Consortium patient population.
- Evaluates and treats patients in the ambulatory setting providing continuity of patient care.
- Models interventions to support patients/patient care team in self-management and changes to improve control of chronic condition.
- Provides nighttime, weekday or some weekend and holiday call coverage as part of work schedule.
- Provides patient and family education and counseling.
- May participate in training of medical students, nurse practitioner and physician assistant students as requested.
- Leads care team on daily and on-going basis, incorporating team building principles in collaborative approach to organizing efforts of multi-disciplinary group.
MEDICAL ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
Necessary for good patient care and satisfying accreditation requirements.
- Maintains complete medical records, including history, physical exams, and telephone message summaries.
- Completes appropriate progress notes in each assigned work area plus other special patient forms.
- Completes appropriate correspondence, phone calls and letters to patients and referring physicians.
- Checks lab reports and correspondence within 24 to 48 hours of receipt. Act on abnormal labs immediately upon arrival.
- Participates in health collaborative / health improvement activities.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
- Carries out medical administrative functions necessary for quality patient care and compliance with accreditation requirements.
- Participates in committee activities and chart reviews. Actively contributes to Quality Improvement and Risk Management activities and committee work in assigned areas.
- Attends Department/Center meetings as assigned.
