DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direct medical services including diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic services within specialty, training, education, and experience.
- Conduct thorough examinations and assess the growth and development of pediatric patients.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of childhood illnesses, infections, injuries, and disorders.
- Provide preventive care, including immunizations and routine screenings.
- Provide culturally sensitive education to parents and guardians about child health, nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with legal and ethical standards within the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with specialists, nurses, and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care, and purchased and referred care.
- Prescribe medications and therapies as necessary while monitoring potential side effects.
- Address concerns related to mental, emotional, and behavioral health in children.
- Ensure compliance with medical regulations and guidelines.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory and imaging studies.
- Provide guidance on developmental milestones and early intervention strategies.
- Counsel families on managing chronic conditions, such as asthma and diabetes.
- Participate in community outreach programs to promote child health and wellness.
- Supervise the activities of medical staff, including nurses, medical students, and assistants.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of a pediatric residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
- Board certification or eligibility for certification in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP).
- Valid current, active, full, and unrestricted medical license to practice from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Preference for medical license in the state of Oklahoma.
- Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number for prescribing controlled substances.
- Valid Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs for prescribing controlled substances.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during patient examinations and procedures.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, including medical equipment and infants when necessary.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform medical procedures and operate diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods while documenting patient records and consulting with families.
- Visual and auditory ability to assess patient symptoms, interpret diagnostic tests, and communicate effectively.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Successful completion of applicable tribal drug test.
- Successful completion of applicable tribal background check.
- Must pass background investigation for suitability of character identified in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
- Measles and Rubella immunization is required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma health care facilities.
- Required to maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from tribal employment.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with no serious violations.
