Job Description:

As a Positron Emission Tomography--Computed Tomography (PET/CT) Technologist in a community oncology medical practice, performs diagnostic PET/CT and CT imaging procedures as directed by a physician and performs the essential functions listed below:
Competent performing diagnostic CT and PET/CT scans on adult patients
Properly prepare, administer, measure, log and dispose of radioactive isotopes utilizing a variety of equipment.
Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
Collaborates with Medical Director and Supervisor on technical issues, equipment performance and QA
Performs diagnostic PET/CT or CT imaging procedures to include injection of radiotracer and/or IV contrast, the administration of oral contrast, protocol setup, patient positioning, reconstruction and filming of images, network image transfers, and archiving of image data
Assists in procedure scheduling and related front office functions to ensure smooth workflow; Accurately maintains patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS)
Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements
Ensures accuracy of patient demographic information, report distribution and patient files
Assists with the collection of clinical data for patient follow-up and development of teaching and educational information
Provides protection for patient and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards
Conducts daily quality control measures to monitor scanner performance
Reports all malfunctions and/or need for service to the proper company or facility
Responsible for patient data and films including printing, archiving, retrieval, network data transfers, tracking and logging of loaned films and requested outside films
Understands the contraindications associated with the administration of IV contrast, be able to recognize possible reactions and know the procedure to follow in the case of a reaction
Ensures compliance with all HIPAA guidelines
Reports contamination to Radiation Safety Officer
Assists with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades
Monitors medical supply inventory and requests supplies as necessary
Performs and records daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly quality control procedures on PET/CT equipment to ensure compliance with ACR guidelines and state of CA regulatory requirements.
Performs daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance of radiation standards of the department and Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or State Regulations
Completes other tasks/duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
NMTCB or ARRT registered technologist in Nuclear Medicine, current and in good standing
Graduate of the American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiography
Licensed State of CA dual licensing in PET and CT Technologist
Training and experience to competently perform PET/CT procedures independently
Certification in imaging specialty
At least one (1) years' experience in PET/CT Imaging.
Knowledge of equipment including safety hazards common to PET/CT
Knowledge of PET and CT procedures and protocols.
Experience with ACR modality submission and accreditation and PACS implementation
Skill in positioning patients properly.
Skill in preparing and administering contrast materials and isotopes.
Skill in identifying and correcting equipment problems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Salary Range: $40.00 - $70.00 per hour
