Description:

Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications according to professional standards and state/federal legal requirements. Suggests changes in physician's orders as needed to provide optimum patient outcome and cost effectiveness.

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Participates in the pharmaceutical care of patients, newborn through geriatric.
  • Provides drug information as requested and investigates/documents any clinical intervention.
  • Provides for the general supervision of pharmacy technicians.
  • Checks the accuracy of all medications prepared by the pharmacy technician prior to dispensing.
  • Completes, checks, signs designated areas of paperwork required by law for policy.
  • Participates in training and staff development.
  • Maintains the pharmacy, equipment and storeroom in a clean, sterile manner as required.
  • Submits daily orders for supplies as necessary.
  • Serves a population newborn through geriatric.
  • Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulatory policies governing pharmacies/pharmacists.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Pharmacy experience in a hospital environment.


REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • Current Pharmacist license in the State of Kansas.


PREFERRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • American Heart Association BLS.
