Under general direction of the Assistant Director of Pharmacy, fulfills all legal requirements, including evaluation, selection, procurement and distribution of drugs, counseling, and professional consultation. Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations as well as policies of Houston Healthcare. Interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders. Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals and related products for patient care by performing related duties. Responsible for supervising technicians on duty during shift. Responsible for participating in Clinical and Quality Improvement programs established by department.
Education & Training:
Bachelor or Doctorate degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
Experience:
Previous hospital/retail pharmacy experience.
Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Current licensure by the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy. AHA/ARC BLS
required. AHA ACLS/ARC ALS required within 9 months of hire. Must
complete and maintain required stroke education/training as mandated in the
"HHC Primary Stroke Center / Acute Stroke Ready Designation" policy.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to represent HHC in a positive and professional manner; ability to
maintain regulatory requirements; ability to maintain customer confidentiality at
all times; ability to comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical
business practices; ability to exercise judgment, ability to interact with all types of people; ability to maintain composure with irate customers; ability to use time
effectively. Utilizes pharmaceutical equipment to include prescription balance,
Laminar Flow Hoods, and compounding equipment.
Successful candidates will be subject to criminal background and drug screens.
