Outpatient Long-Term Care Pharmacist opening!

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Shift: Monday-Friday first shift with rotating weekends

Pay: Typical pay ranges from $60-65/h and varies based on years of experience and education

Requirements: Pharm D and state license with no incumbents

Open to experienced in LTC setting or inpatient setting! Also open to retail Pharmacists with at least 1 year of experience

Position Overview: Supports the Pharmacy team by preparing medications, interpreting physician orders, and ensuring the proper weighing, measuring, and mixing of ingredients. Identifies and resolves therapeutic incompatibilities.

Non-patient facing role

Key Responsibilities:

Medication Preparation and Dispensing:

Reviews and interprets physician orders for medication preparation.

Weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients as needed.

Detects and addresses any therapeutic incompatibilities.

Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.

Quality Control:

Assesses the identity, strength, and purity of medications.

Monitors drug therapies and advises on necessary interventions.

Manages the workflow, including pharmacist verification, labeling/packaging, quality assurance with barcode verification, drug images, and delivery with barcode tote checking.

Record Maintenance:

Assists in maintaining pharmacy records, including pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, and controlled drugs/narcotics records.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensures compliance with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the State Board of Pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Food and Drug Administration.

Monitors unit inspections, maintains records for controlled substances, and follows guidelines for drug disposal.

Technical Support:

Utilizes computer systems to screen for drug interactions, therapeutic duplication, drug-disease contradictions, drug allergies, geriatric precautions, drug-food precautions, and adult min-max dose checking.
