Overview
The Director will lead pharmacy operations with a focus on financial stewardship, quality improvement, medication safety, and regulatory compliance. Drives standardization and best practices through technology, automation, and data-driven solutions to optimize medication utilization and supply chain efficiency. Oversees talent management, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation, to maintain a high-performing pharmacy team. Directly oversees pharmacy services within the acute care division while supporting system-wide initiatives that enhance patient outcomes, operational excellence, and pharmacy standardization

What you will do

  • Develop and execute vision and strategic plan for pharmaceutical services and medication use across all acute care facilities and affiliated outpatient locations; in collaborating with pharmacy leaders, hospital administration, physicians, and key stakeholders to align with organizational goals
  • Build high-performing teams and oversee management of pharmacy resources to ensures balanced workload across all acute care pharmacies
  • Drive financial performance by leading budgeting, resource allocation, and cost-containment strategies for acute care division in collaboration with other stakeholders
  • Oversee quality metric and outcome for acute care division in collaboration with quality leads, system and local pharmacy leaders
  • Design and implement strategies to strengthen pharmacy operations and efficiency across the system through innovation, process improvement, technology, and automation
  • Manage vendor partnerships and contracting activities to optimize purchasing, inventory management, and drug supply chain operations.
  • Provide visionary leadership of medication safety program and initiatives in alignment with national best practices, partnering with clinical, operational, and administrative teams throughout the system
  • Create and manage programs to facilitate standardization of policies and compliance with applicable legislative, regulatory and/or accreditation standards relating to pharmaceuticals across the system


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors Degree, or higher in Pharmacy (Required)
  • Masters Degree, Business, Healthcare Administration or Public Health (Preferred)


Experience

  • 5 years Pharmacy experience (Required)
  • 4 years ASHP Health-System Pharmacy Administration & Leadership (HSPAL) residency experience plus 2 years of leadership experience OR 3 years leadership experience (Required)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed Pharmacist - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) within 60 Days(Required)
  • 340B University On Demand within 180 Days (Required)
  • Advanced 340B Operations Certificate (Apexus) within 2 Years (Preferred)
  • Board Certification Pharmacy Specialties Upon Hire (Preferred)
