Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Specialty: Physical Therapy
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40
Experience: Greater than one year of experience preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply
License: Must be eligible for current licensure with the State Physical Therapy Board
Certifications: BLS required before employment begins
Must-Have: Graduate of a nationally-accredited PTA program
Job Description:
- Provide physical therapy services in response to a physician's referral and a physical therapist's plan of care, in accordance with state laws and within the scope of the therapist assistant's training, knowledge, and experience.
- Treat functional mobility, motor function, muscular strengthening, sensation, wounds, ambulation, balance, social, and environmental needs.
- Offer direct patient care to individuals of all ages, based on the caseload demands.
- Assist in coordinating and providing patient and family education, ensuring effective physical therapy services.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive treatment.
- Participate in educational programs, quality improvement, and program development.
- Complete non-patient responsibilities as assigned.
- Pursue continued education opportunities and educational goals.
- Assist with marketing physical therapy services.
- Demonstrate respect, leadership, professionalism, dedication, and commitment to excellence.
- Provide skilled treatment following a plan of care with measurable functional goals.
- Document clearly to meet APTA guidelines and ensure timely billing for charges.
- Educate family/caregiver/patient to increase independence upon discharge.
- Work occasional weekends as required.
- Maintain basic computer skills and effectively schedule and perform patient care independently.
- Identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all information and data.
- Fully cooperate in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.
Environmental Conditions: The work environment includes daily patient contact, which may involve exposure to blood or other body fluids.
